Since 1993, we have regularly undergone evaluations by AAHA to ensure that we comply with the association’s high quality standards of care. These standards cover nearly every aspect of our hospital, including surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental and nursing care, diagnostic imaging, and anesthesiology. We opened in September of 1983 in a converted home just minutes from Williamsburg with Dr. Sprenkel and one employee. Our hospital has since undergone three remodels and expansions. Our staff has grown to sixteen. In September of 2014 Dr. Sparkman took the helm of Noah’s Ark. His dream is to continue and build upon the principles that have made Noah’s Ark what it is today. Through the years, our guiding principle has been to provide a caring and warm environment which we would want to come to if we walked on four legs.
Sean A. Sparkman, DVM
Dr. Sean Sparkman took ownership of Noah’s Ark Veterinary Hospital in September of 2014. He has cared for pets in the Hampton Roads area since 2006. He also practiced emergency medicine as a relief veterinarian with the Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
Dr. Sparkman grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee, and attended The University of Tennessee as an undergraduate. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2001. He continued his veterinary education at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.
Internal medicine, surgery, and dentistry are among Dr. Sparkman’s many professional interests. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Virginia, Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Sparkman and his wife, Dr. Cary Sparkman, also a veterinarian in the area, are proud parents of two children, Elizabeth and Alex. Their family also includes two dogs, Boudreaux and Bearugard, and a cat named Milhouse. In his spare time he enjoys, running, biking, hiking, playing soccer, and playing guitar and mandolin.

Dale H. Sprenkel, DVM
Dr. Dale H. Sprenkel, DVM founded Noah’s Ark Veterinary Hospital in 1983. Dr. Sprenkel received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and graduated from the University of Georgia’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. He has practiced in the Williamsburg area since 1980.
Dr. Sprenkel is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association, Williamsburg Veterinary Medical Association, Richmond Academy, and is a member and past president of the Virginia Academy of Small Animal Medicine. He is an active Kiwanis member.
He and his wife Paige enjoy spending time on the Rappahannock River with their four dogs: Stella, Ruth, Shiloh and Nora and relaxing inside with their Four cats: Baker, Cyrus, Wesson and Bob. Dr. Sprenkel also loves gardening, fishing and boating in his free time.

Zack Hogge, DVM
Zack/Dr Hogge grew up in Smithfield, Va and attended Virginia Tech for both undergraduate and veterinary school. Upon completion of veterinary school, he performed a one year rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at a private referral hospital in North Carolina. Outside of work he is an avid waterfowler with his Labrador Retriever, enjoys carving waterfowl decoys and spending time on the water with friends/family.
Jill is the winner of our longest service award having been with Noah’s Ark since 1992. She started as a receptionist and has established herself nicely as our bookkeeper. She has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from VCU. Jill and her husband, Mark, have two daughters, Samantha and Amanda. Jill enjoys reading, video games, and spending time on the water with her family. She shares her home with 2 kitties, “Pixie” and “Newt”.

Cori joined Noah’s Ark in August 2000. She obtained an Associated Degree in Veterinary Technology at Cedar Valley College in 2008. Cori is an active member of the VALVT. Continuing Education, Dentistry, Anesthesia, and Surgical Assisting are some of her professional interests. She shares her home with her husband of 12 years, Dave. They have 3 “fur babies”; Minus, Jackie, and Laroux. In her free time she enjoys baking, gardening, exercising, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Crystal has been working at Noah’s Ark as a vet assistant since 2015. She is working towards her certification and degree at Penn Foster. She shares her home and life with 2 beautiful “Fur-babies”: “Bella”, her sassy Corgi and “Evie”, her energetic pibble (or Pitbull). In her free time she likes to study and spend time with her husband and family.

Elizabeth began working at Noah’s Ark in July 2016 as a vet assistant. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She is currently working on her MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management at Saint Leo University. She plans to eventually get into Physical Therapy School and later will get her certification for both dogs and horses. This is her dream career and is super excited to get to this point! She currently lives with her boyfriend TJ and their cat “Nala”. Her hobbies include horseback riding and reading books.

Paige joined Noah’s Ark in the summer of 2016. She is originally from Alabama, but now considers herself a Williamsburg native. Paige attended Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach. She has a daughter named Jayme, who loves anything to do with the outdoors and animals, especially their cat “Tyson” who they recently rescued. In her spare time Paige enjoys to travel, hangout at the beach and time with loved ones.

Myra is a Williamsburg native and joined Noah’s Ark in 2003. She loves all animals and currently has an 11 year old Silver Tabby named “Bunny” and a 5 year old Tuxedo long hair named “Little Man”. When not working, Myra enjoys all Williamsburg has to offer with friends and family. Myra plans to win the lottery and settle in the Caribbean.
Carol joined the team at the front desk of Noah’s Ark in March of 2016. A Liberal Arts graduate of the University of Virginia, she previously worked as a veterinary assistant for 5 years while living in Oxford and Natchez, Mississippi. She then worked 9 years in technical support for a software company before returning to Williamsburg to start her pet sitting business, No Pet Left Behind. Outside of Noah’s Ark, she continues to take care of her many furry friends and her senior Beagle, “Rigby”. Other interests include cycling and walking the many wonderful trails around the Williamsburg area and flying with her partner Jerry in his Piper Cub.

Sam joined Noah’s Ark in May of 2015. She works part time while attending Thomas Nelson Community College. She will be transferring to VCU in 2017, where she will be pursuing a degree in Biology. She has two kitties at home, “Pixie” and “Newt”. She spends her free time studying and hanging with her friends.

Mandi joined Noah’s Ark in July 2016. She moved from Mobile, Alabama with her husband, John and daughter, Rowan. Mandi has been working in the veterinary field for 10 years. She is currently in her last semester of Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technology program. She has 2 dogs, a 9 year old Pitbull, “Tinkerbell” and a 9 month old Pitbull, “Clank”. In her spare time she enjoys family activities and redoing furniture.
Matt joined Noah’s Ark in June of 2013 with four years of prior kennel work. He has lived in Williamsburg since 2001. When not working, he enjoys taking his Dalmatian, “Anna”, for long walks in local parks, reading, tinkering, and playing hobby board games.
Tammy is a Virginia native, hailing from Hampton, VA. She and her husband Peter have been married over 30 years and share their home in “the burg” with “Rome P’ullo”, an adorable Shih-Tzu. Nick named “Romeo”, this adorable and boisterous pup rules the house.Tammy enjoys quiet walks on the beach, cruising Hawaii, Europe and favorite spots in the Caribbean with her hubby. Hobbies include cage diving with sharks, snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.Tammy is an avid supporter of charities such as World Wildlife Fund, The Humane Society of the United States and Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Loki came to us in August of 2014 along with 5 of her siblings from a local shelter. She quickly claimed the hearts of the staff and proclaimed herself as “Ruler of All Things”. She loves to scamper around and greet all of our guests no matter the number of their legs.
